  •  Teach-In and Day of Action

Lead Free Kids New York (LFKNY) invites you to participate in a teach-in on Sunday, March 12th, at 6pm and a day of action on Thursday, March 16th.

On Sunday, March 12th, at 6pm, during the Children’s Defense Fund-New York’s (CDF-NY) “Whole Child, Whole Community FY2024 Budget Teach-In,” you will hear from fierce youth advocates, impacted community leaders and state elected officials as we explain the critical budget needs of marginalized children, youth, young adults, families and their communities and the investments New York must make for them in the FY2024 State budget. During the teach-in, Enoshja Ruffin, impacted parent and community organizer with Citizen Action of New York, as well as Oceanna Fair, impacted parent and Southside Branch Leader of Families for Lead Freedom Now will share about the childhood lead crisis in New York and the need for our State to make bold, necessary investments to combat and end childhood lead exposure and poisoning in the FY2024 State Budget. To watch the teach-in, go to CDF-NY’s YouTube channel on Sunday, March 12th, at 6pm.

After the teach-in, on Thursday, March 19th, LFKNY is hosting a day of action. For our day of action, we are asking you and your network to email your elected officials about New York State’s childhood lead poisoning crisis and their need to act now. You can email your elected officials using this “Take Action to End Childhood Lead Exposure and Poisoning in New York” action alert.

Please forward this email to your network and encourage them to join us for the Sunday, March 12th, teach-in and Thursday, March 16th, day of action.
