We celebrated Earth Day by advocating for the end of childhood lead poisoning in New York State.
Children in New York are exposed to some of the highest levels of lead poisoning in the county, and children of color. Lead poisoning has serious health effects, especially in children and pregnant people. Some of the common health effects of lead poisoning: developmental delays, learning difficulties, kidney damage, cardiovascular problems, and more.
We spent the day advocating for the Lead Paint Right to Know Act S.2353 (Kavanagh) / A.4820 (Rivera) which requires sellers or lessors of pre – 1978 housing to disclose to buyers or renters any knowledge on the presence of lead in the residence.
